Small Foundation deepens our partnership with Invest in Africa Kenya

Small Foundation is delighted to announce our next phase of partnership with Invest in Africa Kenya. 

Invest in Africa (IIA) is a pan-African private sector partnership initiative working to drive sustainable growth and job creation by developing African small and growing businesses (SGBs). With presence in seven African countries, IIA’s vision is to create prospering African economies. 

IIA Kenya promotes a growing and sustainable business ecosystem in Kenya through their activities as a network, a service provider, and a platform. Their innovative online platform, biashara.now, connects multinationals and larger businesses to credible local suppliers. In addition to provision of a marketplace, vetting, and access to contracts via the platform, IIA Kenya connects SGBs to business skills training to improve their access to markets. 

Through this new multiyear engagement, our collective ambition is to enable IIA Kenya to deepen and focus its network activities and impact, strengthening stakeholder collaboration across shared goals in order to ultimately increase market linkages, access to finance, and improved skills. 

Small Foundation previously supported IIA Kenya to conduct research on emergent impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on SGBs in rural Kenya. 

This partnership is part of Small Foundation’s network practice in East Africa and our overall portfolio of work on supporting collaborative networks.  Working closely with partners Converge  and Creative Metier, Small Foundation supports the leadership and membership engagement of mission-aligned African networks seeking to increase sustainability and amplify cross-cutting, ecosystem-level impact.
