Jobtech Alliance: Turning Three, with Reflection
As our current phase of partnership with the Jobtech Alliance, a programme of Mercy Corps, approaches its conclusion, we reflect on its evolution during this time. Our partnership has seen the Jobtech Alliance significantly shift its thinking and approach to most effectively achieve its bold ambition of ‘catalysing an inclusive jobtech sector to create and improve jobs in Africa’.
In a recent blog post, Program Director Chris Maclay reflects on the Alliance’s evolution since inception and introduces its new systems change model. The model, which is central to its next stage of development, outlines the behaviours, practices and systemic impact of the Jobtech Alliance.
Jobtech Alliance’s Systems Change model
For Small Foundation, three points of particular resonance with Jobtech Alliance’s practices and impact are:
- Challenging of assumptions underpinning the work of the Jobtech Alliance, and recognising the value of Jobtech Alliances’ dual role as venture support provider and curator of the wider African jobtech enabling environment.
- Jobtech Alliance’s transition to a ‘community as a practice’ model’, which parallel’s Small Foundation’s network approach.
- Exploring Jobtech Alliance’s contribution to systemic change across the jobtech ecosystem, and identifying some early successes in the application of its systems change model.
Since July 2023, Small Foundation has supported the Jobtech Alliance team in adopting a systems change approach. You can explore their journey through the series of blogs and vlogs linked below:
