The Landscape of Agri-SME Funds in Africa (April 2026) presents findings from an extensive mapping of 175 agri-SME funds across the continent. With an estimated $75 billion agri-SME financing gap, the study explores how the sector can reach the market segments that need investment most.
The report provides a data-driven view of the ecosystem, tracking 79 data points for each fund. Insights highlight a new generation of funds where 66% are managed by Africa-based teams and 59% of capital targets ticket sizes under $2 million to support the “missing middle.” The study closes with seven strategic recommendations calling on donors, policymakers, and stakeholders to prioritise transparency and data sharing to enable better, more tailored approaches to agri-SME financing.
