Supporting the next generation of African agriculture leaders with AL for Agribusiness

We are excited to announce a new phase of partnership with the African Leadership Academy (ALA). Building on an impactful initial three years, our renewed partnership will support the operations of the AL for Agribusiness Network (ALAN) over the coming four years.

With a membership of over 650 young leaders and 500 industry partners, ALAN offers an opportunity for young African leaders to contribute to the transformation of the African agribusiness ecosystem.

ALAN supports young African leaders in the agribusiness space to develop their leadership skills, collaborate together around projects of shared interest, and explore internship and employment opportunities. ALAN organises this work through a network approach. Over the course of this partnership we will see young leaders increasingly lead elements of the network, developing new skills and exploring new methods of engaging with complex problems in the agribusiness sector.

Hatim Eltayeb, CEO of ALA, reflected:

“Our work is anchored in the core belief that leadership is the key lever for unlocking Africa’s unmatched abundance. Moreover, we believe that leadership impact is most powerfully, sustainably and visibly achieved through collaborative networks. Nowhere is this opportunity more pressing and salient than in agriculture.

Young people, catalysed by partnership are already delivering dignified, uplifting livelihoods across the continent. We are thrilled to be deepening our partnership with Small Foundation, unleashing youth leadership in agribusiness. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to keep learning together in pursuit of this vision.”

ALA operates similar networks around the health, education, governance, infrastructure, professional services and arts sectors. Learn more about ALAN.
