Small Foundation and GanzAfrica: Leveraging data for food systems transformation

Small Foundation is excited to announce a new partnership with GanzAfrica to strengthen support for the next generation of agri-food systems leaders through a network approach. This partnership aims to advance data and evidence use in policy and decision-making to drive inclusive agri-food systems transformation.

GanzAfrica is committed to addressing critical issues for inclusive agri-food systems transformation across Africa. It drives the development of resilient food systems through its fellowship programme, accelerating the personal and professional development of young professionals through targeted training, work placement and mentorship.

Over the next year, our partnership will focus on establishing an alumni network to connect the fellows for life-long collaboration. This includes the development of network infrastructure, identifying a network coordinator, convening members, and building linkages with policymakers through meetings, workshops and networking events.

We share an ambition that this will create opportunities for increased collaborative action and knowledge sharing across the African food and climate systems in which GanzAfrica fellows are embedded. We believe this will enable the network of fellows to influence policy using data and evidence for the transformation of Africa’s foods systems.

Reflecting on the partnership, GanzAfrica founder Thierry Ngoga said,

We’re excited to partner with Small Foundation, who share our vision for transformation through localised, collaborative efforts. The alumni network provides a fantastic platform for former fellows and experts to share experience and innovate for sustainable food systems.

The GanzAfrica Fellowship is a one-year programme for early-career individuals who aspire to become public leaders and food and climate systems changemakers. Sign up to be notified when the next cohort opens.
