Effectiveness & Efficiency of BDS for Agri-SMEs – ISF Advisors
This research project sought to further understand the economics behind business development services (BDS) provision to the agricultural sector in sub-Saharan Africa. BDS are integral in supporting agricultural small and medium enterprises to grow and thrive, but the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of such programs remain poorly understood.
This collaborative initiative was co-developed by Agriterra, AGRA and AMEA; with support from Small Foundation, Argidius Foundation and SAFIN; and with research partner ISF Advisors. The project included an extensive desk review of existing research, an analysis of data collected from 15 BDS provider case studies, and interviews with stakeholders in the space.
