Building sustainable networkinfrastructure with WAI

Small Foundation is excited to announce renewed support for the Women in African Investments  (WAI) Group to strengthen its network infrastructure. This partnership builds on our previous three-year partnership supporting WAI to strengthen its collaborative infrastructure and deepen member engagement.

WAI is a network of over 300 senior female investment professionals whose mission is to drive systemic change that leads to greater capital allocation to and by women investors in Africa. Members include senior executives at DFIs, private equity/venture capital funds, philanthropic funds, fintech intermediaries, family offices and market development organisations.

Over the next five months, Small Foundation will support WAI as it undertakes a major network infrastructure rebuild to streamline administrative process and strengthen network management. The automation of key processes and the reduction of administrative workload will improve WAI’s operational effectiveness, while laying the foundation for a more sustainable and scalable network.

Reflecting on the partnership, WAI Founder Elizabeth Howard shared:

“Our partnership with Small Foundation transforms WAI from a powerful peer network into a systems change actor. A modern, digitised network infrastructure is critical to sustain growth while keeping WAI accessible to investment leaders in all corners of the continent. After 8 years operating off spreadsheets, we’re excited to set WAI up for its next chapter.”

Membership in WAI is open to women professionals in the African fund management industry and to others advancing capital flows towards women.  Apply to become a member of WAI.
