From building connections to driving change in Rwanda’s food systems: Small Foundation deepens partnership with GanzAfrica

Small Foundation is delighted to announce a new three-year partnership with GanzAfrica. Our partnership will advance the work of its Alumni Network and support deeper coordination, collaboration and innovation within Rwanda’s food systems. This includes strengthening member engagement through convenings, working groups and a digital platform for knowledge exchange, as well as a Challenge Fund to seed member-led initiatives. Through the network, GanzAfrica also hopes to present opportunities for network members to engage with policymakers and agribusiness forums to contribute to food systems transformation.

Established in 2022, GanzAfrica is committed to advancing prosperous and sustainable food systems transformation in Africa through locally driven, systems-focused solutions. At the heart of its work is the GanzAfrica Fellowship, a one to two-year programme that equips young graduates with the skills in policy, data, and systems thinking needed to drive evidence-based change across Rwanda’s land, agriculture, and environmental sectors. GanzAfrica’s Alumni Network, established in 2025, is the long-term home for Fellowship graduates and serves as a community to sustain the collaboration of the Fellows and amplify their collective voice in the food systems and agribusiness landscape.

We are deeply grateful to Small Foundation for their trust and continued support. This partnership comes at a critical time as we strengthen the GanzAfrica Alumni Network as a platform for collaboration, learning, and shared action. We see the network as more than a community – it is a catalyst for innovation across the food systems ecosystem. By connecting young leaders, practitioners, and institutions, we are creating the conditions for new ideas to emerge, be tested, and scaled in ways that are locally grounded and systemically impactful.

Thierry Ngoga, Founder of GanzAfrica

The GanzAfrica Fellowship is a transformative opportunity for recent graduates with a passion for food systems transformation in Africa.

“What excites me about this network is the opportunity to reconnect, share experiences, and collaborate on real challenges. Every session feels like both a reunion and a learning journey.”
