Small Foundation is pleased to announce a new partnership with 2X Global, supporting the learning, impact measurement and management, and dissemination efforts of the 2X Ignite Africa Warehousing Facility.
The 2X Ignite Africa Warehousing Facility is a targeted US$75 million market-building initiative providing concessional warehousing capital to 15–20 predominantly women-led emerging fund managers across Africa. By enabling early deal execution, the Facility aims to help managers demonstrate a track record and improve their ability to reach first close.
Our partnership focuses on generating and sharing evidence and learning from this effort. We are interested in understanding the ways in which warehousing capital can unlock further investment, as well as its limitations as a lever. In addition, we are interested in when and how warehousing – to support track record – is sufficient to unlock investor commitments, and when additional support and de-risking are required.
This work will explore the success factors, fundraising challenges, and support needs of emerging fund managers, contributing to a stronger evidence base for the sector.
Over time, we hope these insights will inform how capital is deployed to early-stage fund managers and encourage both broader and more targeted ecosystem support. This partnership reflects our commitment to learning what works, and sharing it to strengthen the system.
Chief Executive Officer of 2X Global, Jessica Espinoza welcomed the partnership, saying:
“We’re looking forward to the impact of this going beyond the Facility and 2X Global. Thanks to Small Foundation’s support, we will be able to ensure that the lessons from the Facility’s early implementation are captured and shared to drive broader market impact.”
